Boris-Noris has been selected by Into Film and the British Council for inclusion in there catalogue of films to aid in educating young people about film . You can check out Into film and all the wonderful things they do here.
Last month I had the pleasure of joint Puppet Place's Emma Windsor for a one on one Q&A at the Exeter Phoenix, discussing the role of women in Puppetry as part of Emma's rolling program of films created by women using all forms of puppetry. Which has taken Boris-Noris to several locations over the last year. It was a pleasure and honour to discuss my films and the role of women within the stop-motion and puppetry industries.
Look at them all! It's been and continues to be a busy couple of months for the boys September was a particular good month screening at the Bristol Puppet Festival, The Smalls Festival, Encounters and Canterbury Anifest. October screening in Belfast as part of CineMagic and in Portugal between November 6th-12th at Cinanima. In the new year it will be in Paris with Cine Junior's as part of a touring program as well.
It was with great delight that I can announce that Boris-Noris was accepted into the competition screenings at this years Encounters film Festival. This was one of my top three festivals for this film as it is a festival very close to my heart, being based where I live. Being down the road form my home means I always make an effort to go to the festival in one capacity or another, but it was amazing to go as a film maker this year, which was made even more exciting due to Boris's face making appearance on the official program header and posters for the festival. I even got to do my first Q+A, which was hosted by Skwigly editor and my husband Ben Mitchell (see below). It was a huge honour for me to have my film played at this year stop-motion Barcelona. Not only is Barcelona one of my favourite cities of all time but stop-motion only festivals always feel like the cherry on top of film festival. It's wonderful to be accepted into any film festival or event, but animation and then stop-motion only on top always feels like your being judged/seen by the purest viewers and the most exciting jury/screening panel. Also this festival although quite small (for now) was so inclusive even though i couldn't actually go. I was asked to do a little hello video which you can see at the bottom and the programer/organiser was so lovely and complimentary about the boys. I really want to go next year- just have to make another film.... Another film festival this time at Zline Film Festival in Kudlov, Czech Republic. Being screened as part of Zlín Dog - Student Animations 3. Big lovers of stop motion and slap stick comedy some really charming films are in competition over there. So if your able to attend it's really worth a visit.
The festival is held at CHAPTER and the film will be screening on the 6th May 2017 at 10:15am and 11:45am.
Over the last couple of months Boris-Noris has been lucky enough to be screened both in Blackpool at the Fylde Films Showcase and up in Manchester at the creative industries Trafford showcase. After dozens of submissions were so happy at B+N HQ to see the little guys out and about entraining people around the country/world.
We've recently gotten word that the guys will be screened in a few more festivals in the upcoming months so stay tuned for further updates and hopefully you'll get a chance to go see the film along side some great company in a screening near you soon |
